Everett man jailed on charge he harassed nurse

Here’s an article that showcases some of the issues faced by healthcare workers, especially nurses, who work daily with an aggressive and violent public.  Although I agree that this nurse was wrong to laugh (not exactly professional behavior) at the man, does that make it right for him to threaten to strangle her?  If someone makes a verbal threat of harm, how do you know if there is a credible threat?  In this instance, I would assume that his overall demeanor and attitude lead this nurse to believe that there was potential for harm.

This article is from the Seattle Times and is just one of many articles that show just how dangerous nursing has become.

EVERETT, Wash. —An Everett ex-convict has been jailed on a charge that he harassed a nurse who laughed at his plan to name his newborn after late mob boss John Gotti.

John Keinath allegedly told the nurse back in March he would strangle her for laughing at him. He was charged with felony harassment and had been free awaiting trial, but on Monday, a Snohomish County Superior Court judge ordered him held on $1 million bail.

The Herald of Everett reports that according to prosecutors, Keinath spent the past few months trying to trick people at Stevens Hospital into giving him the nurse’s identity, and he finally learned it. That led to concerns about her safety.

Keinath was arrested late last week after being chased around by local police and U.S. marshals.

His previous convictions include a drive-by shooting and assaulting someone with a piece of pipe.

  1. WHAT HALFBAKED NONSENSE THE NURSE WAS
UNDER NO REAL THREAT / SOME POOR SOUL
    WHOM ALREADY TREATED BADLY THROUGHOUT
HIS LIFE ANOTHER EPISODE OF APPALLING
INJUSTICE / There no doubt some nurse
doctor face danger in some situations
HOWEVER THAT DOES NOT MEAN THE RIGHTS
OF OTHERS IGNORED /AS THIS CASE SHOWS.

AN VERY /VERY VULNERABLE SOUL TREATED
    WITH APPALLING DISREAGARD FOR RESPECT.

I can only say to those involved upon
    the individuals healthcare/you should
hang your heads in shame / bringing a
minor incident to such extremes shows
your lacking in even the basic skills
that needed in such employment / thus
resulting in a shameful outcome for a
very vulnerable soul /in need of help.
